EDUCATION AND TRAINING 
Bessemer maintains its own public school system with five elementary schools, one middle school and one high school.  Bessemer Academy, Brooklane Academy, Dunnam's Private School, St. Aloysius and St. Frances of Assissi are private schools in the Bessemer area.  Lawson State Community College has served over 100,000 students since 1965.  It is known as "Alabama's largest technical college".
